There appears to be an issue with one of our files and may hinder your login process. While I'm working on the issue, if you login and then get an error for profile.php, note you are logged in and return to http://pdai.org/forum to continue on.

Sorry for the unexplained but decently short downtime. The old FastCube server was disconnected forever (rest it's soul) and a new one in it's place. FPSECE.net had been moved previously but pdai.org had not been. Gene Sigalov, owner of FastCube, set up pdai.org on the new box. After updating the DNS and what not there were SQL porting problems, then a now-incompatible .htaccess file, and lastly various vBB settings which should have been ok but the new box didn't like. I think most of it is worked out by now but I'll check as I can.
PS. I do see some images not loading right, but that is probably because pdai.org has not updated but www.pdai.org to the new IP..

I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner, but I've disabled the email verification option when you're registering. A lot of people never got their email message, thus their account never got fully activated. So from now on, you can easily register & post right away!
For those of you who still are waiting for the email message, send me a private message and I'll activate your account right away. We're sorry for the inconvenience, but it should be fixed now.

Edit: Ok, so now we get spammers. I'm not 100% sure if the two are related, but at least I now have something to do... Kick the baddies  .

PDAi server software upgrades this sunday! |

Tomorrow (sunday), Jason will be updating the server that runs PDAi. He explained to me what he'll do (something about upgrading Red Hat and some other things), but it's a bit too technical for this Mac-nerd... Anyhow, consider yourselves warned, and I expect to see y'all back on monday morning, 9am sharp.

The oz.pda.org project, opened 12/12/2004 is officially closed today. This decision is due to the last restructuring of openzaurus hardware moved their primary feed to a new location, and due to having a different owner.. we no longer have sufficent shell access to mirror the primary feed as we were accustomed. Over the past month we have discussed the situation with most of the openzaurus dev team and was not provided with an alternate feed sync method. Our last feed sync is now too far outdated to be of any use to anyone.
The bandwidth and storage space will be dissolved back into pdai.org main domain until a new project can utilize the space.
We regret closing the project due to the massive amount of time we had invested in it, however we are left no choice due to the lack of support from the openzaurus group and/or primary feed maintainer.

When Cameron, Stefan, and I began discussing the replacement of a BOD member, I think to some degree I expected a rough transition and a drawn out process of elimination and call for vote. After all, PDAi has been blessed with some of the best members in the past. At times there has been members who were driven enough to practically manage the forums for us without asking and without reward. I can think of enough of you who I respect enough to allow a nomination that I would need pen and paper just to be able to consider the entire list at once. And there are those too who are outstanding individuals who have their hands too full to be able to enjoy the position (LDChen, Sctruck..).
However I was pleased that before a list could be needed, or names eliminated, the three of us were fully confident in one individual who could enter into the group without conflict but yet be a major player in PDAi's direction. This person is also extremely respected in the PDA... [Read More]
